Grand Re Opening

I can't believe its been seven months since "Daisy Baby & Mommies Too" became "Daisy Baby & Kids" and moved just five doors down. It has been a wonderful seven months. I have really had the opportunity to bring my vision to life. The new store feels so intimate and comfy. Its been so nice to greet each new parent to be and help them navigate the overwhelming world of Baby. My philosophy is to just keep it Simple. Make it Fabulous, but keep it Simple.

So not only has the new Daisy Baby changed locations, we have also changed our focus. We are still the best place in Bethesda to grab a new baby gift. We continue to carry our tried and true top baby gifts: Mary Jane & Johnny Trumpette socks, Little Giraffe Chenille Blankets & Sophie the Giraffe. However, we have also brought in some new favorites: A Little Annafaith Onez Cupcakes, AH Goo Baby Plush Changing Pads, and Wiggle & Scoot Burps & Bibs. My goal is try new baby gifts every month and bring something different into the store for you to check out.

Our new focus is also on DESIGN. I've been pulling together nurseries for almost six years now. So it is wonderful to spend most of my time sitting down with families bringing their nursery visions to life. My favorite rooms are the ones I get to create from soup to nuts. Together, I work with the parents to select the furniture, linens, glider, paint, lighting fixtures, window treatments, and flooring.

I have also been wanting to partner up for years with other local vendors to fill some gaps. Coe & Sons are my first source for rugs and carpet. Laurie Mcparland of Picture Perfect Windows creates the most beautiful window treatments in town. These are the connections that really put the finishing touches on the space.

The most important vision I had for the new Daisy Baby & Kids is to make it a place for everyone. I want people from all walks of life to be able to come in and find something they can purchase, be it a sweet gift for $15 or a solid US-made crib for $600, whether their style is super traditional or extremely modern. We have something for everyone.

I hope to see you at "A New Bloom," our upcoming grand re-opening celebration, from 12-2pm on Sunday, September 26.

Lulu DK Matouk

I have been obsessed with bringing this line into the store since I saw it 3 years ago. Now here at Daisy Baby we are bring a NYC sense of style & refinement. This line is Stunning. All of the fabrics are 500 Thread count. You can tell as soon as you touch it. All babies should sleep in such luxury.

So what would you expect to pay for such a lovely line? Surprising, not so much. $610 for 3 Piece set. Really, I would expect it to fall in the $1000 range. My really only issue is that there aren't enough sets to choose. If anyone knows Ms. Evans, I love to mix & match. Just throw in different elements of design. Its time to encourage them to create more. I'll help to build the DEMAND.

Come in the new store and check it out.

Bratt Decor's Quality

I am so pleased to be featuring Bratt Decor's newest "Soho" collection at Daisy Baby. My other half and I just spent the evening putting the new pieces together. By the time we have our lil ones he will have so much experience putting cribs together.

I must say, we both were so pleased with the quality of the crib and the dresser. Bratt Decor makes a very solid product. The design is lovely and so innovative. In a market place that is so same ole same. To complete the look, I added the loft canopy to the crib for a lil extra "drama." And for only $759, who can beat it! Of course I had to put it in the front window.

At first I was very disappointed when Bratt Decor discontinued their signature color palette and original cribs. They were one of the few companies to offer some fun colors & unique designs. I will miss the heritage crib. I remember doing a very cool room with it in all red. It was great! I wish more people would step out and push the color envelope. However, Bratt Decor decided to make what people buy, Dark wood & White. If you are only going to offer two finishes, they should be as nice as the ones they are offering.

Come into Daisy Baby and I'll design a great room to go with this new collection.

Why I love what I do

I just had a wonderful mom to be in the store. She had done her research and was looking for a store to help her pull it together. It was so nice to sit down with her show her the wood chips & fabric samples. This is what we do here at Daisy Baby. Its so much fun:)

Custom Furniture

Before opening Daisy Baby, I had no idea one could custom make furniture. I thought you walked into a store. It came in that color, so that is how you had to buy it. I loved when some of my favorite clients and friends, Eileen & Annie taught me a thing or two about making furniture your own.

Tonight as I watch the opening ceremonies of the winter Olympics and put together the the new Art for Kids Binder, I am awed by the beauty of their pieces. It is amazing. The idea that you can take a simple bookcase or Armoire and totally create a unique piece the way you want it. How cool. You decide not only the color, but the finish, the trim, the background color. In these days of Ikea & pottery barn we forget people actually still make furniture in America, by hand. Really they do!

I am so proud to sell furniture like this. If you like the idea of handmade custom furniture. Check out Newport Cottages and Bradshaw Kirchofer. All from my home stare of California
